Teaching children to read confidently and fluently is my passion. A child’s confidence in being able to read is vital for their self-esteem and future.
“Teachers who love teaching, teach children to love learning.”- This is what I strive for each and every single day.
I have been teaching reading both English and Hebrew for 14 years in a community school. As a Special Ed teacher I furthered my career as a certified Orton Gillingham specialist through the Orton Gillingham Academy. I am also a Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner trained in PAF and Fundations.
My role as a reading consultant/specialist at Gesher Yehuda consists of training teachers in various teaching modalities in order to make the teaching of reading interactive and enjoyable for our students. Ultimately, our goal is to instill confidence in our students to enable them to feel success with their reading. I coach teachers in the science behind teaching Keriah. I help teachers plan for their lessons and assess students along the way. My goal is to ensure that “No Child is Left Behind” and that each child is reaching his or her potential.
At Gesher Yehuda Yeshiva, we work with children with learning differences — bright children who struggle in a mainstream setting. We offer small, structured learning environments designed to meet individual needs. We are an academic program with highly trained special education teachers and therapists. Since 1994, our alumni have gone on to college, careers, and successful lives. All students deserve the education that best fits their needs.
